+this is made with ink or oils on a piece of glass...then press the paper and pick it off...fairly easy and with a distinct graphic result. go try it. 2002.+
I love monotype, I'm actually taking a printing class right now and I've been doing a lot of monotypes for the last few weeks. This is beautiful! Was it hand-printed, or done with a press? I love the colours and textures in it, especially around the face and all of the fading lines creating little halos around the figure.
+i remember painting it on glass, so it must have been hand-pressed monotypes are great as an introduction to Printmaking, and is an incredible art form in itself check out ~tombennett (monotype master) and ~deloscampos for some inspiration +
+you have to draw/paint the whole thing on glass so it won't dry or absorb. once you're done, place the paper over it and press it evenly with your hands, hard. pick it up and go "aaaaah". try it. if you have oil colours it's even better.+
+that's why i said Bic ink, which is very tacky. paint smudges about, yes... look closely at the full view. some smudging is good. if you don't want it to, lay it out thin.+
ah. well then that does make sense. if its ink will the glass stay stained(if you dont wash it of course..) that could look kinda interesting. hm. bic ink tastes HORRID and i usually dont like it but sometimes the coppery color is nice.
id try it tonight as i have the time but im not feeling really good and i highly doubt smelling paint will help. i think that may be what got me sick feeling in the first place, too much paint yesterday.
