DD's: Just in case you're still wondering...
$
Moonbeam13 addressed a very common issue, so i will reproduce it here. Read on:
"Why do some moderators have different Daily Deviation selection criteria to others? Why are there no universal rules? There are basic guidelines for daily deviations that apply to all people with the privilege to select them and they are:

Avoid giving daily deviations to an artist who has had one in the last 3 months. Constant featuring of the same artists tends to lead to negative commentary from the community and we are sure you do not intend to lynch the artist you like!

Daily deviations are all over the place in v6 because of our new awesome footer and with that comes a lot of criticism from the community. Quality over quantity is sure to go over well

We all have friends on the site and value their opinions. However, if the community feels all of your picks come from the same people, they can feel ignored. Expand your horizons and try taking suggestions from all sorts of people, you may even make a new friend in the process!

We all have our strengths, so stick to what you know! If you are a digital art junkie that should be what you are featuring. Do not venture into areas you are not familiar with

Dont offer daily deviations as contest prizes they are features that are not winnable

The community appreciates reading the description on daily deviations to get an idea as to why youve selected it. Taking the extra time is always worth it
That's it. Aside from these general guidelines I've put out, individuals may have their own additional guidelines they've listed in their journals. Some may use their privilege to showcase unknown artists and therefore may not want to feature already popular people. Some may want to pick the best of the best regardless of stats and some may just go with the flow of what appeals to them.
The point is that daily deviations are very much a personal choice and I've selected the people who have this privilege because I trust their opinions and value their eye and I regard them as community leaders. While it's easy to say "THE UNIVERSAL RULE OF DD's IS" I think that creates far too much structure for something so artistic and personal. Besides, I find it's a little like telling someone they have to like the color yellow. Eventually their lack of passion is going to come through and then what's the point? I would rather deal with a little controversy from people in the community because the people I've selected are passionate about what they choose and why they choose it, then deal with an array of cookie cutter mediocrity. Besides I think it's honest on the part of the DD selectors to post for you the criteria they select by. I could ask them all to remove that and choose based on just the above guidelines but again, I'd be limiting their creativity and I simply refuse to do that. I also personally don't agree with a some of what people are telling me a daily deviation should be. I've heard comments that popular people should never get them and certainly not staff. While I appreciate the concept of shining a light on an unknown talent, I also believe in reveling in the talent of the known. Artists are artists and popularity doesn't come into play when I select daily deviations. Personally, I follow the above guidelines and the extra factor is how it affects me personally and I don't know how one can quantify that. Allowing the selectors a bit of freedom here is what will elevate the quality of our daily deviations and bring the passion back and that my friends, is why there is no universal rule."

Daily Deviation Suggestions
Send me DD Suggestions for Traditional Art only. Here are some guidelines to follow:
- Send DD suggestions to only one of us Traditional GD's. It gets confusing if you post all of us with the same message.
- Please check if your suggested deviant hasn't gotten a DD in the last 3 months. It is the only hard rule standing.
- Personally, i'd like to ask you to put the name of the deviant on the Note's Subject. It's just easier to keep track of them that way
- If you strongly disagree with the selection of any given DD, please do not flame the artist. It's rude and in poor taste, and the selected deviant had no say on getting featured. If you really have a well-founded complaint about it, please direct it to $Moonbeam13, who will gladly look into it. For the official version, please read FAQ #873: What do I do when I disapprove of a Daily Deviation feature?
