i'm alive

Sun Mar 7, 2010, 6:52 PM

+thanks to everyone who left messages expressing their concern for my family and I, it's been a terrible experience, since we live in Concepcion (Chile) and we were hit directly by the 8.8 quake. however, our apartment building handled it well, we weren't near the coast so were not threathened by the Tsunami and after a scary week we're finally together & safe. the beautiful old house where my tattoo shop was housed didn't resist the violence of the earthquake: the whole front of the second story crumbled and fell, and will surely have to be demolished. the old family which lived there and rented the space will lose their house and workplace (a dental clinic), and both Ekeko Design Market and 13Agujas Tattoo & Art Cabinet will have to start again somewhere else.

i have been meaning to update my journal and explain why i haven't been around since i left my position as Gallery Moderator, and its working title pretty much sums it up:
"it's not you, baby... it's me"
the details seem somewhat unimportant now, and i could go into it later if you want to, but i love dA and all of you as much as always.

thanks for caring,
d.+

november spawned a monster

Wed Nov 4, 2009, 9:14 PM

+it's that time of the year again, boys and girls...

"Poor twisted child
So ugly, so ugly
Poor twisted child
Oh hug me, oh hug me
One November
Spawned a monster
In the shape of this child
Who must remain
A hostage to kindness
And the wheels underneath her
A hostage to the kindness
And the wheels underneath her
A symbol of where mad, mad lovers
Must pause and draw the line."

i don't expect to be back here yet. got to get my head cleared still... i lurk and troll, though ;)

+ as you've noticed, i've resigned from the Community Relations Team. there were many reasons for this decision, and none of them involve dArama, so if that's what you were looking for, here's the door what's the hurry :P

basically, it's real life stuff. it wasn't an easy decision, i've been a Gallery Director/Moderator since 2007 and i enjoyed (almost) every day of it. i just kept thinking things would get better or easier and i'd be able to catch up on things and do what i feel a GM should be doing (and what the Traditional Community deserves) but it just isn't happening right now. other recent events mean i'll be moving out from this apartment in a couple of weeks (i won't live in front of the park anymore!) and that will add more time and financial strain... everyone's been really patient and supportive, but i'd rather let someone else dedicate the time and effort the position deserves. i'd love to come back to the CR Team in the future, when and if i'm needed.

i want to say a couple of things. the CR Team people is good people, top to bottom.  communication is very open and we're aware of what everyone's up to almost all the time, but it's a big group and with some i barely had a nodding acquaintance, others i got along with and others became dear friends. the very fact that they're doing what they're doing earns each of them my appreciation and respect. we were never out to get you (unless you are a child pornographer or an art thief), and everyday we were all looking out for ways to make you get involved with this community, have fun and grow as an artist. i trust they'll keep on doing just that.

Art History Contest: Art Nouveau - Deadline

`oilsoaked's Art History Contest: Art Nouveau Edition is closing up for submissions on the 31st! Only a few days left to add your entry, so get on with it. Art History Spotlight on Art Nouveau tells you what you need to know about the movement.

Traditional Gallery Streamlining - Printmaking

The Streamlining Project aims to clarify the labyrinthine cathegories on dA, and help ease the submission process. Ideas for it have been around for quite a while, and the turn for the Trad Gallery finally is coming around. `limnides has presented our proposal for the Gallery's changes, and some of your requests have been included.
My personal favorite of this is the complete overhaul proposed for the "Printing" category. Being a printmaker myself, and as a GM, i've encountered many flaws and complications on its structure: techniques are included or overlooked without much logic, and it's just not built to grow. There's many people doing stuff that just has no place for it, so we needed an inclusive, stripped-to-basics, built-to-last category system. Those of you who have followed my Printmaking Series' articles will recognize this:

Traditional Art > Printmaking

:bulletgreen: Relief
:bulletgreen: Intaglio
:bulletgreen: Planographic
:bulletgreen: Screen
:bulletgreen: Mixed / Experimental Techniques

Relief includes Woodcut, Linocut, Collagraph, Misc. / Experimental Block Printing.
Intaglio includes Engraving, Etching/Aquatint, Mezzotint, Drypoint, Collograph, Misc. / Experimental Intaglio Printing
Planographic includes Lithography (and alternative plates such as Zinc, Aluminum, Photo-sensitive sheets and other lithographic processes), Monotype, Misc. / Experimental Planographic Printing
Screen includes Silkscreen, Stencil ( Pochoir), Misc. / Experimental Screen Printing
Mixed/Experimental includes everything else you can think of which was printed on a surface from some kind of matrix or process not listed before.

The information above will be provided as part of the category descriptions, not as sub-categories.
What do you think? i want to know!

#TattooAddicted's Zombie Contest

... is almost over! deadline for submitting your Zombie tattoo design is May 30th! I'm part of the judging panel, and adding to the prize list a journal feature for the winners :zombie:
read all about it here.

Moustache Press Contest

~lando-calrisian noted me a while about about this project:
Hello there, my brother and I are starting a crazy project called moustachepress, we are going to produce limited series of artist prints, in miniprint and card formats, on letterpress technique, printed with a Heidelberg Windmill letterpress machine, we have any artists that have work in progress for our first editions but we don't know as much as we would like so, we are launching a contest trough deviantArt to get more people involved, here are the requirements of the contest:

Media: Vector or any digital media that can be easily transfer to a polymer plate.

Color: Just one color.

Theme: free.

Prizes: the winner will get a 1 year DA subscription, a journal feature by me and maybe any others and the work will be produced as a limited serie of prints, and you will get a % of every income we get.

Copyright stuff: the work will remain yours and we will sign an agreement to get the right for the production of the series.

Any examples of what we are planning to do:

Daily Deviation Suggestions

Send me DD Suggestions for Traditional Art only. Here are some guidelines to follow:

  • Send DD suggestions to only one of us Traditional GD's. It gets confusing if you post all of us with the same message.

  • Please check if your suggested deviant hasn't gotten a DD in the last 3 months. It is the only hard rule standing.

  • Personally, i'd like to ask you to put the name of the deviant on the Note's Subject. It's just easier to keep track of them that way

  • If you strongly disagree with the selection of any given DD, please do not flame the artist. It's rude and in poor taste, and the selected deviant had no say on getting featured. If you really have a well-founded complaint about it, please direct it to $Moonbeam13, who will gladly look into it. For the official version, please read FAQ #873: What do I do when I disapprove of a Daily Deviation feature?

anti - miscat edition

Journal Entry: Wed Apr 8, 2009, 10:34 PM
reconnected + latest poll

after my forced time out, i've been reviewing the results of the poll about miscats on the Traditional Gallery: Which Traditional category is more badly filled with miscats?. If you haven't left your opinion yet, please take some time to do it now.
From your feedback, Mixed Media is the most badly affected by this miscat invasion! Other categories mentioned are Illustration, Typography, Collagraph and Animation.

The most common misconception is that Mixed Media should include a place to submit pieces that combine Traditional and Digital elements and, since no subcategory is clearly defined for this kind of works, many deviants are confused as to where to place them.

This issue is clarified in a negative way: there is no such place. There isn't a category on deviantART for mixed Traditional/Digital Media, and Traditional Mixed Media is certainly not intended for it. I'll quote from my article Traditional Spotlight - Mixed Media, published in May 2008:

The Category definition states clearly: "Art created by using multiple traditional, but not digital, techniques in a combined manner".

Did you see that? "...but not digital..."

That's right. Traditional Mixed Media is the place for works that combine different Traditional media in one artwork, not artwork that combine Traditional with Digital media. As always, color and contrast corrections, cropping and added borders or watermarks are accepted as a process destined to improve the presentation of your Traditional piece, but not beyond the point where the work ceases to be recognizable as a Traditional artwork.

At this point I see many hands raised, asking an often-asked question: "Where is the correct place for artwork that mixes Traditional and Digital Media, then?".

Well, truth be told, there isn't. There is no separate category for this, and this is where your honesty as an artist comes in. You have to ask yourself: "Is my work a distinguishable Traditional artwork, or does it rely more heavily on the Digital aspect?". Take a second to think about it, and then choose the right Category for it. Use the Artist's Description, explain what you did and how you did it, include the materials you used.

Please read the whole article, :+fav: if you think it deserves to be seen by more people, share it with your friends!
You can also do some Spring Cleaning in your own Gallery to make sure you're part of the solution and not of the problem :P Check you own work and make sure everything is in its right place, and when you stumble upon a miscat work while browsing, use the Report Deviation > Misplaced Deviation tool to help keep the Traditional Gallery miscat free!

The Illustration category holds a lot of beautiful works and is no stranger to Daily Deviations. However, its subcategories can be confusing and end up attracting many miscat works. Fortunately for us all, `Mollinda has submitted a complete and didactic article that will help to understand what belongs (and what doesn't) in the Illustration Category: The Illustration Galleries Explained deserves your :+fav: for coming to the rescue!

Traditional Animation gets a lot of random stuff thrown in. Some of its subcats overlap with the new Film ones, leading to understandable confusion... while other people disregard the "traditional" cel animation part of the Category Description and upload anything Animation-related: from stolen animated gifs to random anime (!) and the ever-present MSPaint doodles. `Marker-Guru used to keep it trimmed and orderly back on her Trad GD days... Report those miscats when you see them! Some ideas for streamlining are in the workings so please be patient.

Poor old Collagraph always gets mistaken for something else. The bottom line is: Collagraph is a printmaking technique that "...depends on adding material to the plate instead of removing it (thus called and "additive technique"). Collagraph (also called Collograph) plates can be made from any rigid material, such as cardboard, metal or wood. Almost anything can be glued or applied to the plate, and different things will leave different textures. String, dry-wall paste, sand (often leaving aquatint-like results), leaves..."
If your deviation isn't a print made by doing the process mentioned above... well, it isn't Collagraph. The quote is from the Printmaking Series Two - Intaglio Printing II article, where you'll find more on this and other Printmaking techiques, along with examples from the Printmaking category.

Hopefully this helps clarify some of the issues raised on this poll. I will be attentive to your feedback, and i want to thank everyone who took the time to send their thoughts.

DD's: Just in case you're still wondering...

$Moonbeam13 addressed a very common issue, so i will reproduce it here. Read on:

"Why do some moderators have different Daily Deviation selection criteria to others? Why are there no universal rules?

There are basic guidelines for daily deviations that apply to all people with the privilege to select them and they are:

:bulletpink: Avoid giving daily deviations to an artist who has had one in the last 3 months. Constant featuring of the same artists tends to lead to negative commentary from the community and we are sure you do not intend to lynch the artist you like!

:bulletpink: Daily deviations are all over the place in v6 because of our new awesome footer and with that comes a lot of criticism from the community. Quality over quantity is sure to go over well

:bulletpink: We all have friends on the site and value their opinions. However, if the community feels all of your picks come from the same people, they can feel ignored. Expand your horizons and try taking suggestions from all sorts of people, you may even make a new friend in the process!

:bulletpink: We all have our strengths, so stick to what you know! If you are a digital art junkie that should be what you are featuring. Do not venture into areas you are not familiar with

:bulletpink: Don’t offer daily deviations as contest prizes – they are features that are not ‘winnable’

:bulletpink: The community appreciates reading the description on daily deviations to get an idea as to why you’ve selected it. Taking the extra time is always worth it

That's it. Aside from these general guidelines I've put out, individuals may have their own additional guidelines they've listed in their journals. Some may use their privilege to showcase unknown artists and therefore may not want to feature already popular people. Some may want to pick the best of the best regardless of stats and some may just go with the flow of what appeals to them.

The point is that daily deviations are very much a personal choice and I've selected the people who have this privilege because I trust their opinions and value their eye and I regard them as community leaders. While it's easy to say "THE UNIVERSAL RULE OF DD's IS" I think that creates far too much structure for something so artistic and personal. Besides, I find it's a little like telling someone they have to like the color yellow. Eventually their lack of passion is going to come through and then what's the point? I would rather deal with a little controversy from people in the community because the people I've selected are passionate about what they choose and why they choose it, then deal with an array of cookie cutter mediocrity. Besides I think it's honest on the part of the DD selectors to post for you the criteria they select by. I could ask them all to remove that and choose based on just the above guidelines but again, I'd be limiting their creativity and I simply refuse to do that. I also personally don't agree with a some of what people are telling me a daily deviation should be. I've heard comments that popular people should never get them and certainly not staff. While I appreciate the concept of shining a light on an unknown talent, I also believe in reveling in the talent of the known. Artists are artists and popularity doesn't come into play when I select daily deviations. Personally, I follow the above guidelines and the extra factor is how it affects me personally and I don't know how one can quantify that. Allowing the selectors a bit of freedom here is what will elevate the quality of our daily deviations and bring the passion back and that my friends, is why there is no universal rule."

If i get asked the same thing again, you're getting directed here :P

For the official version, please read FAQ #873: What do I do when I disapprove of a Daily Deviation feature?

stigmatattoo updates

Journal Entry: Mon Feb 23, 2009, 8:42 PM
Updating Updating + New CSS!

After a very busy week (you must have noticed my absence from featuring DD's :|) i am back and dealing with the Suggestion backlog. Other things being activated are the new "Quick Sketch of..." interview and the "Printmaking Series" article on Silkscreen Printing. Please bear with me while i get up to date. Did i miss anything interesting? let me know!

This nifty CSS was created by `noxiousone and it has a bunch of cool features i'll be trying out on my next journals...

Inked Mothers FTW!

Before summer vacation, my mother dropped by my shop for a visit. of course, i made her sit on the chair and poked her about getting a tattoo. To my delight, she requested a design for the initials of my name and brother's Alex. After a failed attempt a while ago (i left the shop key's at home), she got it done last weekend. Last minute change was to include the common G from our middle names. She took it quite well and is already joking about getting a second one!

CR Update - Traditional Art

Journal Entry: Tue Jan 27, 2009, 10:30 PM

As you already know, this CR CSS identifies the official Traditional Art updates, that will be linked in the official Community Relations Newsletter by $Moonbeam13. Be sure to check out the Traditional Art GD Team's journals for more info:

:iconlimnides::iconoilsoaked::iconsnowmask:

Community Relations - Goodbyes and Fresh Meat

This has been an intense time for the Team, some dear friends and hardworking people are no longer on CR and deserve your love and respect: `FallenRox , `Marker-Guru & `misskittyoooo , `Nicasus & `Chimpantalones

I also would like you to give a warm welcome to some (for most) familiar faces which have decided to dedicate their time to make deviantART a great experience for us all:

^Thiefoworld & `majnouna are the new GM's for Cartoons and Comics, `TerrorCookie will manage deviantART Related, while multi-appendaged `PurpelBlur is taking over Community Projects.

Go give them some love, Traditional style! :P
Critique Night - February 7th!

`oilsoaked launched a poll for you to decide the best time for our next Critique Night, and now we're all set for some fun and learning! While the poll results showed 8pm as the preferred time (hell, i voted for that too!), it actually left out many people all over the world so i guess we'll all have to accomodate :P

Meet us February 7th 2009 at 3:00 PM EST at #dATrad for panel-style Critique, while #traditional will be open for general chatting.

Have you got what it takes to be on the Critique Panel? Send `oilsoaked a note and link her to some of your comments/critiques! See you all there! :boogie:

Quick Sketches - New Interview Series

"A Quick Sketch of..." is a new series of Interviews on different personalities from the Traditional Gallery. Some of them will be underviewed talents, and some (like our first featured deviant) will be some of the best-known and finest artists dA has to offer.

Quick Sketches give us the opportunity to capture an image of someone, a momentary view of their reality. Check out the first release, featuring `kolaboy

Ongoing Traditional Gallery Projects

`snowmask's TradSavvy shows, through an artist's interview, the choices and options you can take for working on a certain medium. Aiming at inspiring and educating, you'll learn what you need to get started or broaden your horizons. Read the Project Overview here and check out the previous releases:
  1. TradSavvy II: Azrael-Nekhbet on sumi ink

  2. TradSavvy I: sphilr on Pencils

`limnides' tradART: On the Streets features deviant's activities on the wide wild (real) world of Art, and it's made up from your contributions! Will you be in an Art Show? Are you selling your Art? Taking comissions? Send `limnides a note to be included on the next issue.
  1. Latest OTS release: December 2008

`oilsoaked's Art History Spotlight / Contest will be resumed (tentatively) in March as a quarterly series. Stay tuned to `oilsoaked's journal for updates.

Senior Goes Bald - For Charity

Please read the article and get involved! Amnesty International will receive your donations. i'd shave my head too, but it's there already :P

On the News

The Printmaking Series
The articles divide the existing (and missing) Printmaking categories on deviantART into four main families, taking a good look at the techniques on each of them and featuring a selection of talented printmakers of each discipline.

The Inkredible Series:
Inkredible Feature #5 Traditional Tattoos
Inkredible Feature #4 Oriental Tattoos
Inkredible Feature #3 Tribal tattooing.
Inkredible Feature #2 Black & Grey Tattoos.

"A Quick Sketch of..." is a new series of Interviews on different personalities from the Traditional Gallery. Some of them will be underviewed talents, and some (like our first featured deviant) will be some of the best-known and finest artists dA has to offer.

Quick Sketches give us the opportunity to capture an image of someone, a momentary view of their reality... Please welcome today's Sketched deviant: American painter, illustrator and musician `kolaboy.

`stigmatattoo What were you doing just now?

:iconkolaboy: I was cutting firewood. I never really appreciated the difficult life of a lumberjack until I began cutting my own firewood.

`stigmatattoo Do you plan your day ahead and if so, do you manage to stick to it?

:iconkolaboy: I plan my day ahead insofar as I have the PM hours free to work on various projects. Fewer distractions in the nighttime.

`stigmatattoo Is there something you have accomplished in your art you're specially proud of?

:iconkolaboy: Yes. When I was 12 I took all my mom's metallic lipstick containers, arranged them in a cluster, and painted the various reflections and re-reflections. I think I learned more about painting from that self-imposed exercise than anything subsequent. And, you'll be happy to know that I never wore any of the lipstick.

`stigmatattoo Is there something you want to do and haven't yet?

:iconkolaboy: Is this painting specific? If so, I'd like to finish the Joan d'Arc series I started some time ago. The stumbling-block being that I can't bring myself to depict her death. It was a particularly horrible death...
Non-painting specific: to see the NASA New Horizons probe's photos of the planet (yes, I said planet) Pluto. I'd also like to own one of those carnival fortune telling machines, but I understand they tend to be on the pricey side.

`stigmatattoo You mean those with an animatronic/automaton gypsy inside? There are some carved in wood...

:iconkolaboy: Right. I've always loved automatons, even though as a child I was absolutely terrified of them. There are some older ones that are truly works of art. Unfortunately it seems the making of such things is becoming a lost art. I once dreamed that I stole the James Garfield automaton from Disney World... but I digress.

`stigmatattoo Symbolism... Which are your favorite sources?

:iconkolaboy: My childhood memories.

`stigmatattoo Can you disclose some personal codes?

:iconkolaboy: I suppose I could, but beyond a certain point it becomes meaningless. We all have our own set of dots that we spend our life connecting. Even if we all had the same dots, we would each connect them differently. I sometimes watch documentaries dealing with painters and their work, and "art historians" who claim to have decoded this or that in the painters oeuvre. I have to laugh because we are not even able to get into the head of a contemporary painter, or any individual for that matter, much less someone living and creating 300 years ago in a world that would be completely alien to us. The key to appreciating a work of art (for me) is channeling the response that it creates in myself into my own creative action. Beyond the broad surface subject, one can never know the intent, and even if we did, it may be so personal to the artist that it would have no relevance to any but he/she/it*, the creator.
*(The "it" would be Cezanne)

`stigmatattoo Your work has been extensively commented on and offline. What is the most flattering thing someone have said about your art? What was the less flattering?

:iconkolaboy: They're both the same, actually: "You're sick."
I'm flattered that some yokel without the slightest possibility of understanding anything would pry his hand off the joystick long enough to type a response to something I've done. In a sense, I've performed a public service. But then, after that initial flush of triumph, there is the less flattering aspect of being unloved. Ah, the whimsical world of art, aye?

`stigmatattoo Tell me about Cowgirl in the Snow... I understand music runs in the family?

:iconkolaboy: Well, thank you for asking.
Yes, both my brothers are involved in various musical endeavors. My dad teaches violin, and my mom was musically inclined as well.
Cowgirl in the Snow was initially intended to be an actual band with actual people, but seeing as how actual bands with actual people tend to want to perform, and I do not, we failed to have a meeting of minds. So it's just me and my guitars, keyboard, and a drum machine named Gerald. I guess the music could be described as power pop, or as someone once said "bubblegum with thumbtacks" (a good thing?). I've not recorded anything for about two years, so there's a backlog of songs that need tending. Unfortunately, I've found that I can't paint and do the musical activities at the same time. Right now, painting is in the foreground.

* You can listen to Cowgirl in the Snow here*

`stigmatattoo Your favorite work from your Gallery? Why?

:iconkolaboy: I think this one

Mainly because it came out of the blue and was completed in a 26 hour stretch. And they say that caffeine is bad for you....

`stigmatattoo A favorite from dA? Why?

:iconkolaboy:

:iconj4n3t: Because she's so sweet, beautiful and talented, of course.
Or did you perchance mean an artwork? Yikes, too many to name.

`stigmatattoo I knew you'd say ~J4n3T... is she the model/inspiration on many of your paintings?

:iconkolaboy: Inspiration, certainly ;)
As per models, I haven't used a live model for ages, but it's comforting to know that I have a perfect one if I need one.

`stigmatattoo Anything else you want to share?

:iconkolaboy: I refuse to wear matching socks, under any circumstance. And by divine serendipitous coincidence I have no matching socks. Life's funny like that.

the T-Virus

Journal Entry: Sat Jan 17, 2009, 4:46 PM
+ a friend came over and plugged his mp3 player here. strangely enough, someone had somehow uninstalled the antivirus from our pc (my guess: our 3-year-old son, he's a geek like that). you can guess the rest, a funky virus ate something random here and there, and by the time i installed Kaspersky and Ad-Aware and ran them some damage was done. the antivirus caught the bug and zapped it, and it seems benign enough: no data lost, no shutdown, no mass emailing. the thing is, everything is u  n  b  e  a  r  a  b  l y   s  s  s  l  o  o  w. it takes 2-3 minutes for FF to open and PS takes upwards to five minutes (and just imagine how long it takes to run a filter or action or whatever, just scrolling down a brush set gives it seizures), things crash randomly or just get back to normal again without reason. *sigh*

i was very happy to give today's Daily Deviation to !Gaetan-Henrioux... i had been trying for days but FF kept crashing and freezing on me :chainsaw: i seem to have caught it off-guard, although i dread pressing the "Send" button on the journal and have it freeze to death :faint:

if you get to read this, i got lucky. if you don't... well, it's the same :P

I've been getting all kind of really kind notes and messages, and i truly appreciate them. i've responded to some, and i've tried to respond to others just to have the damn thing freeze and lose the message :| (specially `laurart's! now i have the chance! gracias!!! sos un dulce, como dicen por allá :D and to `insaneone who apparently inspired many :salute:). Huge thanks to everyone who took the time to show their support. it's a great encouragement :)

oh, should i try another antivirus / recovery software? shareware/free preferred plz.

btw, i herd you liek slideshows on profile pages! :D

+i had a hard time making a xmas journal... i wrote it and deleted it three times during these days. maybe because i wanted it to be something special, thanking some people on dA that have become part of my life. i never got it quite right, so fuck it.

i'll thank all of you instead. if you feel it's true, then maybe you were in the original list after all.

eight things + scraps deluxe

Journal Entry: Thu Dec 4, 2008, 5:19 PM
why, oh why me?

i got tagged a while ago by our spanking new (with extra spanking plz) Street Art GM `noxiousone, so this is it.

Rules:
1) Post these rules.
2) Each tagged person must post 8 things about themselves on their journal.
3) At the end, you have to choose and tag 8 people and post their icons on the same journal.
4) Go to their pages and send them a message saying they have been tagged.
5) No tag-backs

Let's write something about myself:
1) The current selection of books in my bathroom's windowsill includes:
  • "Patas Arriba" by Eduardo Galeano

  • "Hispanic American Short Stories" selected by Mario Rodriguez Fernandez

  • "Arrive at Easterwine" by Raphael A. Lafferty

  • "The End of Eternity" by Isaac Asimov

  • The Book of Dragons and other Fantastic Beasts"

  • "Gaia, the growth of an idea" by Lawrence E. Joseph

  • "The Tarot: A Contemporary Course of the Quintessence of Hermetic Occultism" by Mouni Saddhu (the title's length is directly proportional to the density of the book)

  • "Kittens in the Boiler" by Delphine Lecompte (highly recommended) & "Year of the Thief" edited by Matt Digangi, both sent to me by Thieves Jargon Press (thank you!)

  • "The Book of Signs" by Mariano Vazquez Alonso

  • "Sexuality and Pornography" by Anton-Andreas Guha (old but still great)

what do we learn from this? that i am a vicious reader and a slob who doesn't put books in its place once done with them (i've read them all more than once and i'm not reading any of them at this moment :|)

2) there is a second bathroom with a similar amount of books.

3) last song i listened today was... (checks) "Over and Over" - Black Sabbath

4) I've been to Peru, Argentina, Uruguay, the u.s. and Canada. I lived for two years in Amherst NY (right next to Niagara Falls) back in my high school sophomore and junior years.

5) back then, i fell in love with !boldspark. i wonder why she got herself permabanned  she had a pic of me on her scraps, in a grey suit and Doc Martens, but it's been deleted.

6) One of my sons is named Demian after the book by Herman Hesse.

7) i have four piercings, two in my ear, eyebrow and nose. i'm totally chicken about getting pierced, i sweat and (almost) faint everytime :faint: i'd still like to get at least another one, but i don't enjoy it at all.

8) i played bass guitar since i was 14, going through hardcore, grindcore, death, punk, a Smiths' tribute band, jazz & blues and rock bands. Sorry to say i sold my 5-string a few years a go to cover school bills for my kids :(

well, that was something.

i'm tagging... the rest of the Traditional Art Team!

back to you

Journal Entry: Wed Dec 3, 2008, 5:55 AM
After being disconnected from the Matrix for most of the past week, i've managed to get back on and i'll be wading through my Inbox, DD suggestions and e-mails to catch up.

i managed to attend the Featured Chat with Louis Markoya (even if i got stuck and disconnected for the last part of it :( ), it was a honor to be part of the panel and have the opportunity to ask ~LMarkoya some questions about himself and his experience as Salvador Dali's assistant. Didn't you make it on time? was it scrolling too damn fast and you want to see what you missed? you can download the pdf transcript of the chat and enjoy it again. I also found another Featured chat i was invited to, this time with Mark Wilkinson / ~aliensexdeath.

Thanks to you all for the messages of support, i tried to drop by at least once a day to check on you all and it was encouraging to see you drop by and say hi (thanks to #Acid-Burst-Love-Fed for the extra kind message :) )... just made me want to get back online quicker and see what you've been up to in my absence!
